The Word Became Flesh...

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us…
Can the purpose and goal of the incarnation be fulfilled?
The Word (λόγος Logos) was with God and the Word was God. It was the same Word which was the instrumental cause in the creation of the universe. It is the same Word, with the same power and with the same godliness, that came into this world, in order to re-create the world. In order to re-create this universe which was in chaos, which was in turmoil, which was filled with violence, hatred and with all kinds of inhuman activities, and that was devoid of love for God and of love for one another. So the Word became flesh and God became Man.  The eternal and divine Word took the form of flesh and was born on this earth as a human person, that we call and believe as the Incarnation of the Word that is God becoming man.
This incarnation has taken place already in the history but the purpose and the goal of the Incarnation has not reaped fully of the expected harvest. As we celebrate the Christmas every year, we are reminded of that fact, that the Incarnation has not yet reached its goal. Evangelist John writes “the Word become flesh and dwelt among and we have seen his glory.” Now as we celebrate the great feast of the Incarnation of the Word, we are to ask ourselves, whether the Word has become flesh and dwelt among us and whether we have already seen his glory?
As St. Paul writes to the Philippians (2: 6-7) “Jesus,  although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.”
In the same way , as long as we cling on to our worldly and man–made values and  being occupied with all kinds of evils , like inhumanity, selfishness, hatreds, discriminations, thirst for violence and power, and glory, It seems to us, now and always impossible to re-create in ourselves on the one hand  and in entire humanity. Hence it seems there is no place and possibility for the divine Word to take flesh and dwell among us, and it is even more difficult and impossible to see the Glory of the Word Incarnate.
Christmas invites each and every one of us, to detach ourselves from all our inclinations and evil  acts, so that the real re-creation and the transformation may take place first of all in us and thus in the whole universe and the entire humanity may see and experience the mystery of Incarnation, and his dwelling among us and his glory. So that the purpose and the goal of the Incarnation may be reached in and through us. Amen
